Academic Libraries that use the Library of Congress Classification Outline (the majority of them) can easily be browsed for serendipitous discovery of wonderful books in your subject area. All you need to know is the call number range to get yourself situated.

Here are the general call numbers for the topic of music:

  • M = Music or Scores
  • ML = Music Literature and/or Music History
  • MT = Music Theory and Pedagogy

Find Books with Library Catalogs

Need books? Then you need a catalog to help you search. Listed below are: our local catalog for CSU, the Regional Catalog for the big libraries along the Front Range, and WorldCat which combines the catalogs of thousands of libraries.  If you can't find what you're looking for, just ask.

Quick Book Pick-up at Morgan Library

Do you spend all your time at the UCA or off-campus? Save yourself some time when you have research to do by using our "Request This" service.

  1. Search for a book on from the Books+ search box on the library homepage (lib.colostate.edu).
  2. If you find a book, click on the title of the book to look at the "full record" for the book.
  3. Scroll down until you see the link that says "Request This"
  4. Click on "Request This" and login with your eID
  5. Choose "Morgan Loan/Reserve Desk" as your Pick-up Location. (Faculty and staff can have the book sent through campus mail, but it will take a bit longer.)
  6. Our staff will go to the shelves, grab that book, and hold it for you at the Loan/Reserve. You will receive an e-mail when it is ready to be picked up. Curious when it will be there? Check the schedule here: https://lib.colostate.edu/access/sos.
  7. Stop by the Loan/Reserve desk, show them your ID, and pick up your item(s). If you forget to pick anything up, it will be returned to the shelf after a week.

New Resources in Music

This is a list of the 30 most recent book and e-book records added to the Discovery Catalog of CSU Libraries. You may encounter a record for a book we have not yet purchased. If you would like the library purchase an item, simply click on the link that says "This book is available for the library to purchase in print. Click here to place a request."

Some titles will have two links. One link most likely goes to a record for the e-book version, while the other link goes to either a print version or the option to purchase the print version.
