This guide is intended to help you learn and use EndNote software. EndNote can be used with both Macintosh and Windows computers.
EndNote is software that can help you collect and organize in "libraries" reference (citation) data for the books, articles, and other resources that you use in your research. You can readily import/export to EndNote the citation data found in library databases, saving time and effort.
EndNote exists in 2 versions:
1) The more powerful EndNote Desktop version is available in the Morgan Library, at the College of Health and Human Sciences and via CITRIX for CHHS affiliates, or for purchase for your personal computer at RamTech.
2) Free EndNote Basic (web version) - any CSU student/faculty/staff can set up an EndNote Basic web account for free. EndNote Basic has a few limitations compared to the EndNote Desktop version, such as the lack of open URL link resolving (that is, no "Findit@CSU" button with your citation when off-campus), but might be a suitable tool for many users.
EndNote's "cite while you write" feature allows you to easily format your references in a specific style (APA, MLA, and many more) and insert references into your papers, as you write.
