Types of Sources

Once you have a starting idea and some keywords, you’ll need to identify the types of sources that would work well for your research assignment. Typically, you will need to use high-quality, scholarly sources for academic research. See the video below for information about different source types:

Keep in mind that your assignment will often specify the types of sources that you need to use. For example, many assignments require students to use peer-reviewed articles, which are articles that are reviewed by experts in the field and are more specific than scholarly resources.
