- Agricola. Years vary. Articles, government documents, and book chapters.Do a keyword search for: Morrill Act. Also search by subject for: Agricultural education; School lands-United States. Most of the articles in Agricola deal with schools formed in 1890. For example, "The 1890 Institutions at 100" from Agricultural Education Magazine (August 1990).
- America: History & Life.Do a subject search for: United States. Land Grant Act of 1862. For example, find "The Fusion of Military Education and the Citizen-Soldier" and "The Agricultural Education Origins of the Morrill Land Grant Act of 1862" both found in the American Educational History Journal (fall 2006 and spring 2007). Also sesarch for: MORRILL, Justin S. (Justin Smith), 1810-1898 (among other titles, identifies book reviews of the second title listed under books).
- Historical Abstracts.Do a keyword search for: Morrill Act. While there are four useful articles found (as of early July 2012), this is not a major database for this topic.
- JSTOR.There are over 400 items listed for the phrase search: "Morrill Act of 1862." An example article is: "Major Issues in the Congressional Debate of the Morrill Act of 1862" by John H. Florer in History of Education Quarterly, 8.4 (1968): 459-478. The topic was first brought up in the House of Representatives by the "Vermont Whig" Justin Morrill on December 14, 1857. Selecting the Articles box eliminates over 100 book reviews and other materials. The articles brought up mention the act, oftentimes it appears on a state-by-state implementation basis or as a passing reference to a larger educational theme.
