How do I use research in my daily practice?
How do I stay up to date?
- Subscribe to e-table of contents for journals, even if you do not subscribe to the actual journal
- Subscribe to journals - they come to you!
- Save searches in PubMed, CAB, etc. and have the database email you when new content matching your search is published
- Join listservs and other professional groups
- Subscribe to organization newsletters (AVMA SmartBrief, for example) to stay tuned into what is going on
- Follow key players and organizations on social media (VetGirl, etc.)
How do I organize all the information that I want to use?
- Notetaking applications, such as Evernote and OneNote, can be used to organize what you glean from research
- Citation managers, such as EndNote, Mendeley, and Zotero, can be used to organize citations and annotate PDFs
