Under "Works," you can add your publications, performances, reviews, and other academic works in several ways. First, scroll over "+ Add Works" to see the options
:
Next, select "Search & Link," which retrieves a list of databases that allows you to import directly into ORCID. Using this function is highly reliable and will likely result in cleaner records. Below are several highly used options:
- Scopus (interdisciplinary)
- MLA International Bibliography (humanities)
- CrossRef Metadata Search or DataCite (if most or all your publications have DOIs)
Import citations from any of these databases by selecting one, and the ORCID system will launch a search using your name as the author. A wizard will prompt you to select your citations and associate them with your ORCID profile. For Scopus, you will be assigned a Scopus AuthorID (if you do not already have one), and this identifier will be associated with your ORCID iD. NOTE: Records imported using "Search & Link," "Add DOI," and "Add PubMed ID" are not editable; if you will need to edit your record(s), use "Add manually" or "Add BibTeX" option.
While importing citations, you can choose to have databases automatically update your profile, adding citations whenever you publish. Find out more about automatic updates on the ORCID blog.
