Editions
The most current edition of EndNote Desktop is EndNote 20. Most previous versions of EndNote are still fully functional, but citation libraries built with EndNote X9.3 and later are not backwards compatible to older versions of EndNote. There are solutions!

Basic / Online EndNote

EndNote Basic / Online is a web only version of EndNote.

Anyone can sign up for EndNote Basic / Online for free.

There are several tiers of online features depending on whether or not you also have the paid EndNote Desktop version or set it up by going through Web of Science, but all the core reference collection, organization, and citation functions are the available to all users.
