- Academic Search Ultimate
Coverage: Varies
Multi-disciplinary database of scholarly and popular articles. Includes full text, peer-reviewed journals, PDF backfiles to 1975, and searchable cited references.
You can access Academic Search Ultimate, as well as other databases, on our A-Z Databases List (lib.colostate.edu > A-Z Databases List > access individual databases in the alphabetic list/under "Starting Points").
Searching and Limiting Your Results
In order to start your search, put one keyword or idea in each search box.
Once you run your search, you may want to limit your results, depending on what types of materials you want to find. For example, on the left-hand side, you can limit by date and peer-reviewed articles. See the image below for an example of limited to peer-reviewed articles from the past five years.
Getting Full-Text and Citing
Once you find some articles you are interested in, review the abstract/information to make sure it's relevant. If it is, it's time to get the full-text of the article. Some articles will have PDFs right there in the record, ex.
If you do not see a PDF there, you can click on "Full Text at CSU" to see our full range of options. Most of the time, there will be a PDF option linked there. If you do not see a PDF linked, you can submit an Interlibrary Loan request or reach out to a CSU librarian for more help.
In order to get a draft citation of the article, click on the title to see the full information. That should show a "Tools" menu with a "Cite" option.
The cite menu gives the option to get a draft citation in a variety of styles. For example, here's an example citation in MLA format. These are machine generated, so make sure you check them for accuracy!
