Computer Diagnostic Center Services

The Computer Diagnostic Center (CDC) is a walk-in hands-on technical support area with a dedicated technical support bench area. The tech bench area has 22 dedicated Ethernet drops, used for testing and troubleshooting purposes. 11 of the drops operate in a Sandbox LAN configuration and the other 11 are dedicated to test computers on the Housing and Dining Services VLAN due to the NAC user compliance rules and security assessments. The CDC is located in the Morgan Library directly behind the information help desk.

The CDC provides basic troubleshooting and support for personal computers used by students, faculty, and staff that are used to access DoIT's Central Services or Systems. The CDC also provides support for customers who are having problems with their own personal computers. Customers can consult with the CDC staff for Technical Support needs.

The services supported by the Computer Diagnostic Center include:
  • Virus Protection
  • Wireless access
  • Residence Hall Connectivity
  • Basic computer repair troubleshooting
  • Routine Computer Maintenance
  • Hardware and Operating System Problems
  • DMCA violations (fee service done by the CDC)
  • Operating System Maintenance
  • Use of campus systems for walk-in patrons (RamCT, FAMweb, eID/NetID, email, RamWeb, etc.)

Serious problems or hardware issues may be checked-in and referred on to the Computer Repair Center (CRC) for fee-based service.
