The four-story, 45,000 square feet Computer Science Building was designed and built as an office and state-of-the-art classroom facility dedicated for use by the Department of Computer Science. The architectural firm of Anderson-Mason-Dale Architects of Denver designed the building. The landscaping around the building was designed by BHA Design, Inc.

Starting in the summer of 2007, it was built by the Mark Young Construction Company.  Costing $14 million, it was designed with the latest technology available and was designed to accept new technologies as they become available. Out of that cost, about $12.9 million came from student fees. The imposing new building opened for classes in January 2009. Its official grand opening and dedication ceremony was held on April 24, 2009.

The Computer Science Building is situated in a prominent location at the crossroads of the Plaza across from the Lory Student Center and Morgan Library. This site was once the parking lot for the Glover Veterinary Hospital. From 1989 until 2007 it was the “Natural Resources Commons” quadrangle. The building is the focal point for students learning computer science principles and practice. One of the three large computer labs on the ground floor was designed to be open 24 hours a day.
